75% of Belgian VWs affected in the emissions scandal fixed by the end of 2017
The fixing of 75% of affected VWs comes just as the Brussels Civil Court has stated that the class action against Volkswagen and D'Ieteren Auto should proceed.

Approximately 75% of Volkswagen diesel vehicles, affected by the anti-pollution “emissions cheating” scandal, will be repaired by the end of the year. This was confirmed on Tuesday by D'Ieteren Auto, the main importer and distributor of the Volkswagen brand in Belgium. Across the whole of Europe, 73% of vehicles that were “rigged” have been fixed. This was indicated on Tuesday by the European Commissioner responsible for Consumer Rights, Vera Jourová.

In addition on Tuesday, the Brussels Civil Court moreover declared as admissible the collective action being taken by Test-Achats against Volkswagen and D'Ieteren Auto as joint defendants. The organisation Test-Achats, which defends consumer rights, compiled approximately 8,000 cases for those wishing to take part in this collective action.

This chain of events has arisen as, in 2015, Volkswagen confessed to having installed a type of software capable of falsifying the results of anti-pollution checks on 11 million of its vehicles.
