Axel Witsel produced the best goal of 2017 for the Red Devils. This was announced yesterday by the Belgian Football Union. Witsel succeeded in a magnificent return in the match against Gibraltar (9-0), on August 31st, during the qualifications for the World Cup in 2018.
Witsel’s goal was tremendously popular, voted for by 3,808 supporters. The second and third places go to two goals scored against Greece. On September 3rd, the strike from outside of the box produced by Jan Vertonghen in Athens (1-2) got 936 votes.
On March 25th, in the first leg (where the score was 1-1) Romelu Lukaku scored an important goal, controlling the ball with his chest followed by a volley. In terms of exceptional goals it gave him 912 votes and third place.
