New on the 1st of February – The Interbank Mobility service will be simplified

From the 1st of February, people who change banks will no longer have to give their new bank account details to creditors they pay by direct debit (notably mobile phone carriers and energy providers) and those they regularly receive payments from (their employer for example). The bank will pass this information on for them via the Bankswitching central service.

The new Interbank Mobility Service is part of the European directive on payment accounts, which will become part of Belgian law on the 1st of February.

Febelfin, the Belgian Federation for the financial sector, says this digital system is rapid, easy and automatic.
