An ambulance driver abandoned his service vehicle, with a female patient inside, in Sint-Martens-Latem. The news was indicated by the East Flanders Prosecutor’s Office on Sunday, confirming information already received from Het Laatste Nieuws. The ambulance belonged to a private company. The worker had not been employed for very long, and it seems had left his position whilst transporting a patient between two hospitals.
In the end, another ambulance took the unfortunate patient to her destination. The owner of the private company was able to determine where the vehicle was located, warn the police and send a further ambulance to the location.
At present we are not aware what motivated the ambulance driver to act in this way, but it is thought that he could be suffering from psychological problems.
