Shots fired in the air during a Turkish marriage at Marchienne-au-Pont

A guest at a wedding in Marchienne-au-Pont (Charleroi) fired several shots into the air while in a moving car on Saturday afternoon. He was stopped by police, who confiscated his gun and car.

Local Charleroi police intervened. Their spokesman said the incident took place in rue Lieutenant Général Gillain in Marchienne-au-Pont on Saturday. Witnesses reported several shots being fired.

The suspect, a wedding guest at a Turkish marriage, fired several shots into the air as is traditional to celebrate a marriage. He was in his moving vehicle at the time.

Several police units were dispatched to the neighbourhood and the wedding venue. The shooter was taken to the station for questioning. His gun and vehicle were confiscated.
