Government trying to further series of issues by “Budgetary Conclave” deadline
Key issues to be resolved include a procedure enabling the energy pact outcome and preparation for the stock exchange listing of Belfius.

The federal government held various meetings on Thursday, including a Select Ministerial Council during the evening. The government’s aim was to attempt to further a series of complex issues by the next Budgetary Conclave, due to take place at Easter.

The federal government must imminently obtain figures from the Monitoring Committee, which will enable work to be undertaken in view of the first budgetary audit of the year. By that date, it will try to conclude a series of complex issues. These include a procedure enabling the energy pact outcome and preparation for the stock exchange listing of Belfius, connected to an agreement in principle compensating the cooperative members of Arco.

Also planned are the possibility of a transport budget completing the “cash for car” system, the adoption of criteria for so-called “arduous posts”, enabling such workers to draw their pension earlier or to increase the total value of their pension pot.

In this regard the Minister for Pensions, Daniel Bacquelaine (MR), told parliament on Thursday that he hoped to see the matter ready in the short term for social consultation by the civil service members in Committee A.

A further meeting of the Select Ministerial Council will take place on Friday covering all of these issues, arising from a relevant Cabinet meeting.
