Agency for roads and traffic warns of slippery morning rush hour

Towards the end of Monday night and Tuesday morning, a weak precipitation zone will reach the coast of Flanders. The precipitation consists of a mix of light rain and snow. With temperatures around the freezing point there is a risk of ice formation on the roads and therefore slipperiness.

Ween en Verkeer warns motorists that the roads may be slippery for Tuesday’s morning rush hour. The agency will monitor the situation on the road and will send out lorries to scatter salt as and if necessary.

“With a larger amount of precipitation, the salt can be washed away. On the frozen road surface, the precipitation can then cause dangerously slippery roads. An appropriate driving style is definitely needed for Tuesday morning”, according to the agency.
