The person suspected of throwing stones at a VRT team has been identified

The person suspected of throwing stones at a VRT team last Monday has been identified and referred to the Prosecutor’s office, Antwerp mayor Eric Thomas (PS) said on this Sunday‘s episode of the television program “Ce n’est pas tous les jours dimanche” (RTL-TVI).
There have been a series of incidents in the Peterbos neighbourhood in Anderlecht since the end of 2017. Projectiles have been thrown at police officers from rooftops.

Last Sunday, Stib inspectors were attacked by youths while checking tickets. On Monday, a VRT team working in the area had stones thrown at them.

“The police have identified the person who threw stones at the VRT team and they have been referred to the Prosecutor’s office”, the Antwerp mayor said during Sunday’s televised debate on RTL-TVI. The subject of the debate was the repeated incidents in Anderlecht.

Mr Thomas says the stone throwing incidents have led to a dozen “attempted murder” cases being opened.
