‘Airbnb’ storage space platform goes live in Belgium

The property company, Montea, is launching a platform enabling companies to exchange storage spaces. In a communiqué, Montea is calling it an “‘Airbnb’ for the logistics sector.” The idea initially came from the Netherlands.

Companies with surplus storage space are able to offer it available using the online platform Stockspots. Conversely, companies seeking short-term storage facilities can find them using the intermediary platform. A start-up from Breda developed the system, with Montea injecting the investment required for the start-up to produce the innovation.

During eight months of activity in the Netherlands, approximately 500 such spaces have been registered on Stockspots. By the end of 2018, the company is expecting around 100 such storage spaces across Belgium to be registered on the platform.
