Petrol prices at the pumps will increase from Thursday. The announcement came on Wednesday from the Department for Energy (part of the FPS Economy). They will reach levels that have not been seen since July 2015.
The petrols with octane levels referred to as 95 RON and 98 RON will see their maximum prices increase from 3.3 and 3.5 cents to respectively €1.53 and €1.616 per litre.
The maximum prices for the petrols 95 RON E10 and 98 RON E10 are increasing by 2.7 and 3.5 cents to respectively €1.527 and €1.624 per litre.
The department says that the prices result from fluctuations in the cost of petrol products and/or biocomponents on international markets, that themselves are inherent in the make-up of petrol.
Last week, the department had already announced the maximum price of diesel 10S as €1.502 per litre (an increase of 2.9 cents), a level that had not been achieved since September 10th, 2013.
