Dredging sector wishes to recruit 1000 people this year
DEME is seeking 660 individuals, with Jan De Nul thought to be looking for 400 people.

The companies DEME and Jan De Nul, active in the dredging sector, wish to hire more than 1000 people between them this year. De Tijd reports on Wednesday that they had already widely recruited last year, but owing to billions of euros of investment in larger tankers and significant order books, massive recruitment now has to happen.

DEME is looking for 660 individuals, including a significant number of engineers. Jan De Nul is not presently giving out figures, but 400 people are likely to be hired.

Recruitment within the sphere is proving difficult, whilst the sector is competing to hire person profiles that are also sought by the chemical and engineering sectors, and the construction sector.

The competences targeted are highly specialised, such that Jan De Nul is making known to that media that it has led a recruitment campaign in Singapore “as the quality of students in universities there is very high.”
