The Minister for the Interior, Jan Jambon, on Wednesday praised the courage of a cleaning lady at the Athénée Léonie de Waha in Liège.
A number of sources have said that this woman, who is a Muslim, reasoned with the killer, and prevented him from going further into the school.
On Tuesday afternoon, the woman received a visit from the King accompanied by the Prime Minister, Charles Michel, and the Minister for the Interior, whilst in the CHR Citadelle hospital in Liège, being treated for shock.
Mr Jambon, speaking on Bel-RTL stated, “I was impressed by the conversation she had with the terrorist. She was highly courageous, and maybe her actions avoided there being more victims of the incident at the school.”
