World Cup 2018 - Vincent Kompany: “We did not feel inferior to the French team”
Kompany's message for Belgians and the Belgian team: the national team is no way inferior to France or the ultimate tournament winners.

Vincent Kompany has the firm conviction that the Red Devils were not inferior to the French. France beat them 1-0 in the World Cup football semi-final on Tuesday in St Petersburg.

Kompany stated, when interviewed by RTBF, “We did not feel that we were inferior to France.” He went on, “We had control of the game. It was not a match that we lost against a team that made the match difficult for us. We knew that it would be decided by the minutiae.” He further said, “From the beginning, it was to be decided by a corner or stoppage time. Unfortunately, things did not go our way today.”

He went on, “I am bitterly disappointed because we have gone out against a team that can go home with all the delight in the world, and which was not necessarily better than us.” The Manchester City defender added, “We were not left with the feeling that this match was not within our grasp. But that’s football, and we must respect the law of the victor and congratulate the winning team. However the team which wins this tournament will not be a stronger team than ours.”
