The Tax-on-Web service, which allows taxpayers to file their returns online, was inaccessible on Thursday afternoon, the deadline for submitting tax returns to the State. The link to the Finance Department’s software displayed an error message.
Finance Minister Johan Van Overtveldt subsequently announced that the deadline was being extended to the 15th of July inclusive.
The problem arose because the line was temporarily disconnected, the Minister said on Twitter. This affected the links to most public services.
By Wednesday, some 2,475,500 returns had been submitted using Tax-on-Web.
