French auto parts manufacturer, Plastic Omnium, will in the first half-year of 2019 open a major research centre, dedicated to new technologies. The announcement came on Tuesday in L'Echo. The investment of some €50 million is due to come to fruition in Brussels.
The research centre will be dedicated to fuel cells and hydrogen propulsion. In total, 150 engineers will work there from its opening and this number will increase, ultimately, up to around 200 people.
Although the company, quoted on the Paris Stock Exchange, is keeping its silence on the future location of the research centre, L'Echo believes it has evidence that Neder-Over-Heembeek is a favoured location. One factor pointing to this is that Plastic Omnium already occupies offices in the grounds of the Solvay group there.
