Hazard and De Bruyne amongst nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year
The winner will be announced on September 24th, but Hazard and De Bruyne are in the running.

Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne feature amongst the ten candidates for the title of ‘The Best FIFA Men’s Player of Year’. The list of those nominated has been revealed by the International Football Federation (FIFA).

The other candidates are the Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid and then Juventus), the Englishman, Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), the Argentinian Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) and the Croat Luca Modric (Real Madrid). Also candidates are the Egyptian, Mohammed Salah (Liverpool), and the French world champions, Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid), Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain) and Raphaël Varane (France/Real Madrid).

Earlier in the day, the Coach for the Red Devils, Roberto Martinez, had been included in the list of the candidates for the title of The Best FIFA Men’s Coach of the Year.

The nominated individuals have been chosen by a jury of 11 illustrious FIFA legends including Fabio Capello, Didier Drogba, Kaka, Lothar Matthäus, Alessandro Nesta and the Brazilian, Ronaldo, each on the strength of their performances witnessed between July 3rd, 2017 and July 15th, 2018.

The winner will be chosen by the public (who can vote online until August 10th), journalists, captains and coaches of national teams. He will be announced on September 24th during an official evening ceremony to be held in London.

Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo received the award.
