Monday proved the busiest day in the history of Brussels Airport. The airport accommodated 96,000 passengers.
The spokeswoman for the airport indicated to the Belga press agency yesterday that the crossover between July and August passengers, as well as the 5,000 festival-goers returning from Tomorrowland, explained these exceptional passenger numbers.
She went further being delighted to say that, at midday, movement was fluid as much in the departure and arrival halls, as on the runways and the roads leading to the airport.
Several hundred staff members were brought in to assist passengers. Nevertheless passengers were asked to arrive sufficiently early at the airport, especially if their flight was anticipated for take-off during the peak time between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. To facilitate their arrival, they were also advised to reserve their car parking space online, via the Brussels Airport website.
