The Walloon Drought Committee will meet in Namur on Monday

The Walloon Drought Committee will meet in Namur on Monday to discuss the situation following the current heatwave, a spokesman for Environment Minister Carlo Di Antonio said on Saturday.

The meeting will start at 2pm. They will analyse the current situation and decide on any new measures.

In theory there should be no changes regarding the biggest waterways. There might however be restrictions on travelling down some smaller waterways where water levels have dropped significantly.

The situation for households should not change, with no restrictions planned but work on awareness will continue.

The Drought Committee, which was created by the Regional Walloon Crisis Centre, is made up of representatives from the Walloon Public Services, the drinking-water production and distribution sector and the hydro-electric sector.
