The Prince Laurent foundation "has already helped more than 300,000 pet owners

The Prince Laurent foundation has helped more than 300,000 pet owners since it was created, the Prince said on Sunday. He spoke at a “Speaker’s corner” dedicated to animal welfare in Ghent. The foundation hopes to set up a centre for homeless people and their four-legged companions in containers. The project has been going in Brussels since 2012.

In its five Belgian centres, the foundation offers veterinary care to pets whose owners are struggling. It is working with Ghent and Liège universities.

“In Brussels we have looked after 16 people and their pets in containers every winter since 2012. They can eat, sleep and receive medical care there. We hope we can develop this project in Ghent and other towns”, Prince Laurent explained.
