Cycles not welcome on trains at peak times
SNCB is concerned that bikes are taking up passenger space.

Information reported in Gazet van Antwerpen, De Standaard and Het Nieuwsblad, on Wednesday, indicates that as of next year bicycles will not be allowed on trains at peak times. The spokesman for the SNCB, Bart Crols, says, “Passenger numbers are increasing and we cannot extend the length of trains. We therefore have to make this choice.”

He goes on, “Bicycles are taking up passenger space. Bikes placed near to train doors also pose a safety issue.”

Folding bicycles are unaffected by this measure.
