Slight increase in beer prices from 1 January

The prices of most of the beers brewed by the AB InBev holding will increase slightly from 1 January while Alken-Maes also plans to increase its tariffs. Wholesalers and the food and beverage sector will need to decide whether to pass the increase on to consumers.

AB InBev, whose group includes brands such as Stella Artois, Jupiler, Leffe, Hoegaarden, Belle-Vue and Corona, confirmed in late November that there would be a “slight increase in prices”.

A spokesman said consumer prices would go up by an average 0.016 euro per glass, while store prices would increase on average by 0.015 euro.

This decision stems mainly from increases in the prices of cereals, due to drought, and other raw materials.

The Haacht Brewery could also increase its prices in 2019, but no final decision has been made as yet.
