Spain welcomed a record number of 82.8 million tourists last year, according to official statistics published on Friday. This is the sixth year in a row the previous record has been beaten. Belgians tourists helped out as 2.5 million Belgian tourists headed to Spain last year (1% more than in 2017).
The biggest number of foreign tourists was from the UK (18.5 million). That’s more than from both Germany (11.4 million) and France (11.3 million).
The most popular destinations were Catalonia (Barcelona and Costa Brava), the Baleares islands and the Canary Islands.
