Prison officer arrested in Andenne prison for drug trafficking

A prison officer from the Andenne prison was arrested on Thursday night for drug trafficking within the prison, said the Namur Public Prosecutor. The man concerned had been questioned during the morning, along with three other prison officers, themselves also suspected of involvement in the same crime, stated Sudpresse at the end of the day.

The searches occurred following an extensive investigation into the four prison officers suspected of supplying drugs to prisoners.

Come the start of the evening the investigating judge in the case took the decision to place one of the men under arrest.

The Public Prosecutor did not wish to communicate further information at this point in the investigation.

“The investigation is far from ending, but the three other agents questioned will definitely no longer have any concern that they are at risk of prosecution,” stated the media investigating judge Charlotte Fosseur.
