Another car explodes in Northern Antwerp

For the second day in a row, a car has been blown up in Antwerp in the early hours of the morning. The latest incident happened early on Tuesday morning a few blocks away from the location of an explosion that happened early Monday, the local police said."The damaged car was towed for further trace investigation," says police spokesman Willem Migom.

The Army “Demining Service” went on site to determine if there was any risk of further explosion. “Nothing was found. So there is no longer any danger of explosion, "says Migom.

Some cars and the facade of a nearby house were damaged in the blast. The Biekorfstraat - where the incident happened - will remain closed for a while.

The federal police have opened an investigation into the incidents. The cause of the explosion is not clear at this time. Reports have indicated that it could have been caused by a hand grenade.
