More and more drivers ticketed for outstanding road taxes

Tax-control brigades in Wallonia last year issued 7,404 tickets to drivers for not paying their annual road and/or registration taxes, a 13% increase on 2017 and 34% more than in 2015, when the brigades were launched, Sudpresse newspapers reported on Tuesday. The checks netted 4,061,000 euros for the Region, against 3,856,199 in 2017.

License plates can also betray drivers on another score: non-payment of fines. In 2018, they enabled the region to recover 1,694,095.04 euros in outstanding fines.
