Belgian airspace closed again for a few hours Friday night

Friday night the airspace above Belgium will be closed again, for at least three hours, because of a lack of air traffic controllers, said Skeyes spokesperson Dominique Dehaene.

No planes will be able to land or leave between 1:30 AM and 4:30 AM. Airspace has been closed several times in recent weeks due to a lack of available controllers. Staff are protesting against a lack of organisation and an overbearing workload.

Skeyes is responsible for aircrafts during take-off or landing as well as air traffic up to 24,500 feet (approximately 7,500 meters).
