24th edition of Belgian Pride kicks off European Pride season

Belgium's Pride Festival will take place from 3 to 19 May, and will feature exhibitions, film screenings and conferences on this years' theme: intersectionality.

As in previous years, Brussels will celebrate the LGBTQ community with the 'Belgian Pride', in May. This year's theme, intersectionality, is about going the extra mile to include people across borders, religions and skin colours. The organisation brings different stories together under the hashtag #AllForOne.

The traditional "Pride Kick-Off" on Friday 3 May will mark the beginning of the festivities. The parade will unfold in the streets of Brussels to the sound of the marching band "Fanfare du Meyboom". The march will then pass by Manneken-Pis, who will wear a costume designed for the occasion.

Besides the festivities, Belgian Pride will also include various activities surrounding the theme of intersectionality, that will serve to give the community a platform to express its demands and create a space for political reflection.

At the end of the activities, Pride Weekend will take place over three days, from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May. The traditional Pride Parade will take place on the streets of the centre of Brussels on Saturday 18 May.
