5,000 families were left without electricity following a power-cut in the Flemish city of Hasselt this Wednesday.
The city’s hospital has been “been given priority treatment and is now back on the grid” said David Callens, a regional spokesperson for Fluvius, on Wednesday morning.
The town hall and its surrounding areas have also been reconnected to electricity, said Callens, leaving only the areas around Capucienenstraat without electricity. However, this final problem is being solved “as soon as possible” according to a recent tweet from Fluvius.
The power-cut was caused by a short-circuit, which led to a fire in a substation located in Welvaartstraat. Given the fire damage, the cause of the short-circuit itself has yet to be established.
