Authorities have released former Miss Belgium, Tanja Dexters, after she was arrested by Antwerp police on Tuesday as part of an investigation into narcotics, according to local prosecutors.
Dexters, crowned Miss Belgium in 1998, was arrested on Tuesday alongside her partner, Michaël Peeters and three other people. The five suspects were brought in for questioning, but released after their interrogations, according to local media.
During the arrest on Tuesday, local and federal police agents carried out seven house searches, including one in the couple’s home as well as in a car dealership owned by Peeters.
Prosecutors have not said whether any drugs were found during the searches, but three cars from Peeters' dealership were seized.
Despite their release, a judicial investigation involving narcotics continues. Public prosecutors have released little details about the investigation or about the identity of the three other detainees.
