Three reports of rape have been filed by three young women attending the 2019 Dour festival, according to reports in local media.

The information – first published by DH and confirmed to Le Soir by the Hauts Pays police zone – says that the incidents are said to have occurred on the festival site during the night from Wednesday to Thursday and Thursday to Friday.

Dour festival is currently ongoing in the Walloon municipality of the same name.

Three complaints in less than 48 hours is a rather unusual figure, said Patrice Degobert, the head of the Hauts Pays zone to Le Soir. However, “it is difficult to determine whether we are facing an increase in the number of incidents for this edition or if it is instead an increase in the number of reports, ” he added.

At this stage, no link between these three cases has been established. One of the attacks allegedly occurred while the victim was in the crowd, another in a more isolated location. Further information is not available at this time.
