Rail traffic between Belgium and France has resumed progressively after being brought to a standstill for around an hour on Wednesday due to damage to overhead powerlines, according to reports.

The circulation of trains slowly returned to normal from 15:00, according to RTBF, after traffic between both countries was completely interrupted from around 14:00.

International operators TGV, Thalys and Eurostar reported their trains were impacted by the issue, with Eurostar saying that it expected its services to resume shortly after around 15:30.

The cause of the disruption appears to be a short circuit which sparked a fire in the overhead lines, according to reports in RTBF.
