Belgian heatwave: here’s the new national record temperature

The national record was reached with a temperature of 40.7 degrees in Beitem, West Flanders, according to meteorologist David Dehenauw on Twitter.
The country saw 40 degrees in all provinces except Namur and Luxembourg, according to reports. The highest temperatures were recorded in Beitem (40.7 degrees), Kleine Brogel (40.6 degrees) and Diepenbeek (40.4 degrees).

Slightly lower temperatures are expected on Friday, but temperatures are expected to rise further in the central part of the country and in de Kempen.
