Teaching in Wallonia much less digital than in Flanders

Walloon schools are far behind those of Flanders in information and communication technology (ICT), was the result of a survey carried out by the Itinera think-tank, the main aspects of which were published by Le Soir and L'Écho Tuesday. While three quarters of Flemish schools have 25 computers for every 100 students, their Walloon counterparts have only 8.5.

Dutch-speaking education also has an advantage regarding human competencies, since 97% of schools have an ICT coordinator, while only half of Walloon establishments do.

On the positive side of the study is enthusiasm on the part of teachers regarding new technology. Over one third of teachers consider that digital systems favour the self-evaluation of students, and that it is a source of added motivation.
