Alcatel-Lucent is looking for 80 workers for its Antwerp site

The telecom and network giant Alcatel-Lucent will recruit 80 people, mainly engineers, for its Antwerp site, the company announced on Wednesday. The French group has got rid of hundreds of jobs in Belgium over the last few years, in Namur as well as at the Antwerp site. Alcatel-Lucent currently employs 1,400 people in Belgium, most of them in Antwerp.

The company took on around a hundred people last year. Among the 80 new workers required are around 60 profiles with Master degrees or Doctorates. Most of them will join the research, ultra-quick internet, cloud computing or network visualisation departments.

The effect that Nokia taking over Alcatel-Lucent will have on Belgium is not yet known.
