The State Secretary for the fight against Social Fraud, Bart Tommelein, will use a new method to fight against working on the black: planned and targeted checks. “I hope they will have a dissuasive effect. A bit like the BOB campaign and speed tests”, he told the Het Laaste Nieuws on Thursday. Bart Tommelein still thinks surprise visits are efficient, but is also counting on this new method. “I’ll give a fictional example: in July we check the construction sector in Eastern Flanders, in August the catering sector in Western Flanders, in September the transport sector in Limburg, etc… I do believe it will be dissuasive. During anti-alcohol campaigns, we’ve noticed people adapt their behaviour”, he says.
