New Flemish Alliance wishes to create flexi-jobs for long-term sick

To assist the long-term sick to reintegrate into the employment market, the N-VA (New Flemish Alliance) is proposing to inspire people into flexible employment, which is predicted in the hotel and catering trade.
Employees on sick leave for more than a year, may thus have the opportunity to work for several hours a week, whilst keeping their invalidity benefits. “This will make it possible for these individuals to pull themselves out of their isolation and provide them with the chance, in the long run, to get back into full-time work.” So stated the deputy, Jan Spooren, whose party intends to present a proposal to his coalition partners.

The objective is to tackle the mushrooming numbers of long-term sick individuals, and to convince businesses to give such workers their big break.
