John Crombez wants everyone to get a pension after they’ve worked for 42 years

John Crombez, President of the Flemish sp.a, wants everyone to get a full pension after they’ve worked for 42 years. It’s currently 45 years. He spoke about it during an interview that appeared in the weekend edition of Het Laatste Nieuws. “Those that start working at 18 stop at 60. Those that start working at 24 stop at 66. If you’re ill, looking after your children or unemployed, the meter keeps running. It would be fairer and simpler. And the more you work, the higher your pension”.

“We will guarantee every young person a minimum salary when they finish school, and a minimum pension later on”, said John Crombez. He wasn’t afraid to propose using business subsidies to finance his idea. “Above all, don’t order an absurd number of airplanes for operations abroad if you don’t have enough money to ensure your own security”.

It’s time to get rid of “alternative options”, said the MP.
