McDonald's wants to create some 2,000 jobs in Belgium by 2023, 70% of which will be on full-time basis. The fast food chain also plans to open 40 new restaurants here, said Stephan de Brouwer, managing director of McDonald's Belgium.
Wednesday 21 March marks exactly 40 years since the American group opened its first fast food restaurant in the country. Located at Place de la Bourse in Brussels, it then had six products on the menu.
Currently, McDonalds has 80 restaurants in Belgium under the management of 24 franchisees and nearly 4,500 employees.
"A restaurant opening represents, on average, an investment of €4 million and 40 new jobs," said Mr de Brouwer.
In 2017, McDonald's created 524 jobs in Belgium and in the last 10 years, the number of restaurants increased from 57 to 80. "Since 2007, we have opened 23 restaurants, created more than 2,400 jobs and provided more than 600,000 hours of training," concluded Mr. de Brouwer.
