Unions representing Brussels Airlines’ pilots have lodged strike notice with the airline. The company’s 500-odd pilots had until Friday to vote on and agree to proposals made by management, but most did not do so. Management and unions now have seven days to find a solution, failing which the pilots could go on strike from the 11th of May.
Should that occur, it would be the second strike by the airline’s pilots in its 16 years of existence. The only other strike thus far was in 2013, when pilots stopped working for a day.
In January and February last, the pilots had staged go-slow actions to make their voices heard. This had caused daily delays of a few minutes to a quarter of an hour on dozens of flights.
