Pilots of Brussels Airlines may decide on new actions

Brussels Airlines management and trade unions are once again negotiating on the topics of salaries and working conditions of the pilots, according to De Standaard on Monday. It is an important meeting and the unions have promised to give the pilots an overview of the situation after the conclave. There is still a strike notice, so further actions are still on the table, if the pilots find the progress insufficient.

Filip Lemberechts (ACLVB) agreed: “I think there are still a number of issues that have to be dealt with both in terms of work-life balance and remuneration. Hopefully, we can present (the company’s position) to the pilots tonight, where they can then have their say.”

The management of Brussels Airlines does not have much room for manoevre. Not only does each concession on the wage demands of the pilots have an effect on the company’s bottom line, it also opens the door to similar grievances with pilots of the other Lufthansa companies.

The damage of the last two day strike action totalled 10 million euro for the airline.
