Jobseekers qualifying for labour-strapped professions to receive 350 euros from 1 September

The 350-euro incentive granted to any jobseeker who successfully completes training for a labour-strapped profession goes into effect on the 1st of September, Wallonia’s Labour Minister, Pierre-Yves Jeholet, announced on Thursday at the end of a meeting of the Walloon Government. The measure is among those adopted on Thursday by the Reformist Movement (MR) - Humanist Democratic Centre (cdH) Government to help resolve the imbalance between the skills needed by businesses and those acquired by jobseekers.

The Government is also reforming the Training and Insertion Plan, which allows jobseekers to acquire training under guaranteed-employment contracts and enables employers to train their future workers based on their needs.

Further, it has immediately activated a system aimed at acting quickly and in a targeted manner to resolve dire employee shortages affecting businesses, whether small or big.

If a company or companies are seeking at least eight workers for the same function, they can submit an application to the Forem employment and training service. Forem will then offer them a tailor-made programme: joint selection of candidates and flexible training plan. At the end of the training, jobs are guaranteed for at least 80% of the jobseekers who successfully complete it.
