Ryanair’s pilots in the Netherlands also want to go on strike

The social tension at Ryanair has now extended to the Netherlands, where pilots working for the low-cost airline have threatened to go on strike if it fails to offer them better working conditions. The pilot’s union, VNV, which has consulted its members, is now talking about a “last chance” for the Irish company.

According to a VNV spokesman, Ryanair is hardly likely to change its position, so actions are inevitable. In that case, the pilots would join other European colleagues who have already gone on strike for better working conditions.

Any work stoppage by the pilots based in the Netherlands would be announced 24 hours beforehand so as to minimize the effect on vacationers whereas, according to the VNV, the law requires 12 hours’ notice.

In the Netherlands, Ryanair runs flights out of the airports of Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Maastricht.
