Ryanair rejected Thursday CNE’s “false declarations,” according to which the strike by a “small minority” of its cabin crew on 28 September will cause “chaos” in its network. The Irish low-cost airline company relies on its experience of various similar actions led last summer to support its statement, but also on its measures taken to prevent flight cancellations.
As an example, Ryanair mentioned the five-day strike in which “less than 25%” of its Irish pilots took part. That did not prevent the company from ensuring 280 out of its 300 flights to and from Ireland, about 75% of the pilots based in this country having worked as usual.
The same phenomenon happened in Germany on Wednesday, as pilots and cabin crews stopped working. Nearly 70% of Ryanair employees still reported for work and the company was able to ensure 250 flights out of the 400 originally planned.
As for 28 September’s “limited” cabin crew strike, the date of which was to be formalized this morning by the European unions’ meeting in Brussels, the company expects that a vast majority of its stewards and hostesses will work as usual, may it be across Europe or in Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal, the countries impacted by the end-of-the-month's movement .
“Therefore, there will be no ‘travel chaos’ or ‘general disruption’,” Ryanair says.
