Delays are expected on Monday due to pursued actions by Skeyes air traffic controllers affiliated with ACV-Transcom (Christian Union Confederation or CSC, largest union in Belgium), union member Kurt Callaerts warned last Friday via social networks. An agreement between the union and the air traffic control company's executive was not reached at the Joint Committee meeting last Friday.
However, ODOC, Flemish equivalent of the CSPF (Centrale Générale des Services Publics), did make an agreement, an "alleged" text that ACV-Transcom disapproved, it reported.
"An agreement was reached with a union that did not call for a strike, nor did it join the others," Callaerts protested. According to Callaerts, Skeyes management rejected the proposal to “cool down” or for mediator intervention.
Further action and delays are expected on Monday, he announced. None, however, on Friday or during the weekend. It would seem that according to the union there were enough sick and absent to avoid having to organize a strike. "For ACV-Transcom, the deadlock continues ... we are headed for a heated period," he concluded.
For its part, Skeyes specified that at Friday’s Joint Committee meeting discussions were pursued on the draft agreement which had been presented last Monday. Final management proposals were then put on the table.
"Adjustments were made to the original proposals upon mutual agreement," the company said. The text "met the 25 points that had been brought forward (by AVC Transcom in particular, Ed) and offered structural solutions for all employees," the Company added.
The management invited unions to meet "for further explanations and discussions" on Tuesday.
