A record number of Brussels residents work in Flanders
Sunday, 05 May 2019
Around 10,607 Brussels residents accepted jobs in Flanders last year, which is a new record. This is according to figures provided by Employment minister Philippe Muyters (N-VA), which were published by De Zondag.
There is currently a lot of work available in Flanders, but unemployment figures in the region are low. The Flemish employment agency VDAB has been in Brussels to launch a new campaign alongside its Brussels counterpart Actitris. They want to encourage job seekers in the capital to look for work outside the city.
“Job seekers in Brussels who want to move to Flanders for work should be offered help, for example, to find accommodation, a school for their children etc. These are structural solutions for our job market”, says Flemish MP Robert Bothuyne (CV&V), the minister who asked Mr Muyters for the latest figures.
