A Brussels nursing home will be among the first four where Covid-19 vaccines will be administered from Monday, Belga News Agency reports based on a reliable source.

Besides the nursing home in Brussels, three more will receive the first vaccines on Monday - one in Flanders, one in Wallonia, and one in the German-speaking community - though the exact locations are yet to be confirmed.

Belgium's public health ministers will meet on Tuesday, with more information about vaccinations in Belgium expected to follow shortly thereafter, according to Bruzz.

The nursing homes will mark the start of Belgium's vaccine rollout, after Pfizer - BioNTech's coronavirus vaccine was recommended for a conditional marketing authorisation in the EU on Monday by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and was approved by the European Commission later that same day.

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that “as we have promised, the vaccine will be made available for all EU countries at the same time, on the same conditions.” The first batches of the vaccine are expected to be shipped from Belgium “within the next days,” she said.
