Brussels Airlines has sent a letter to the Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) to suggest that they offer bonus pay to airline staff servicing the capitals of the three countries mainly affected by Ebola (Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia), reports the newspaper Le Soir on Friday. Officially, Brussels Airlines aims to reward the effort of its flight personnel as they continue to serve African destinations of countries affected by the outbreak of Ebola. But the initiative is also likely to minimise defection rates. The Belgian company insists that staff are operating such flights on a voluntary basis.
There are now only three airlines landing planes on the runways of Freetown, Conakry and Monrovia: Air France, Royal Air Morocco and Brussels Airlines (the only company flying to all three destinations).
