Representatives of ‘Ebola’ group have talks at Prime Minister’s office

A delegation from the ‘Ebola” group visiting the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday once again asked him to take action to protect citizens of affected countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia) currently living in Belgium. Approximately 100 undocumented migrants from the group also protested near the office.

“The World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed this very week that there has been an upsurge in the number of new cases of the Ebola virus in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, proving that the epidemic is far from being under control. Belgium must immediately support asylum-seekers on its territory as for obvious reasons they cannot be sent back to countries devastated by a mortal epidemic on the increase,” pointed out Alexis Andries from Pigment (a non-profit organisation).

“Our demands have not changed: we ask that Belgium officially declare a moratorium on expulsions of citizens hailing from affected countries, and that they be granted temporary protection,” he concluded.
