In the last ten years, 21 euthanized patients voluntarily donated their organs. Eighty-four organs were collected as a result, the Sudpresse papers revealed on Saturday. Not all patients who request euthanasia can donate. They are often patients suffering from neuromuscular diseases or psychiatric illness. An organ donation request is separate from a euthanasia request.
