Wallonia “loses” 100 GPs in a year

In 2014, Wallonia “lost” 100 GPs, while Flanders “gained” 140.  As there are a total of 15,274 first line practitioners in Belgium, this drop might seem small. But figures for the Walloon region have been going down for the last 10 years, the l’Avenir papers said on Wednesday. “At the same time, only 28% of active GPs are less than 45 years old. If there is no change in the next 10 years, there will be no-one to replace them”, warns the Walloon MP Dimitri Fourny.
